SAY Carbon Yachts, the builder of lightweight carbon fibre yachts, has opened a European Experience Lounge in Puerto Portals, Mallorca. According to trade press, it was inaugurated on 8 August 2026 with owners, dealers, partners and invited guests, and the latest SAY models were shown on the water.

Here is my practical reading of the news.

What has been announced

The lounge is described as a permanent Mediterranean base that runs all year. It is intended for yacht viewings, sea trials, customer appointments and dealer meetings, and it displays the company's carbon fibre models. It follows the launches of the SAY 42 Sport and the SAY 32 earlier this year.

The company's sales director, Constant Colders, called the opening a milestone and a natural next step in SAY's growth. The report also lists existing SAY representation across a number of European locations, including Mallorca, Ibiza, Barcelona, St Tropez and Monaco.

Why a physical base matters

A carbon fibre day boat is a product you really need to experience. Weight, response and fuel use are things a brochure can describe but not demonstrate. A year-round location where you can see a yacht and take it to sea makes that step easier for buyers in Europe.

It also tells us something about how the company wants to work: close to its owners and its dealer network, rather than only at boat shows. That is a reasonable direction, though a lounge is not in itself a measure of after-sales quality. That is shown over time, by how owners are looked after.

What this means for buyers

  • Ask for a sea trial. If you are considering any lightweight performance boat, test it in the conditions you will actually use it in. Conditions in the Gulf, with heat, chop and long hours of sun, differ from the Mediterranean, so ask how the boat has been specified for them.
  • Ask about service. Find out where servicing and warranty work would be carried out for a yacht kept in Dubai, who does it, and how long parts take to arrive.
  • Compare like with like. Fuel use, range and top speed depend heavily on load, sea state and engine choice. Ask for figures from the builder in writing and treat headline numbers with care.
  • Do not decide on the news alone. A new showroom is good context, but the right yacht is the one that suits your use, your berth and your budget.

If you are weighing a SAY against another day boat or cruiser, tell me how and where you plan to use it and I will help you think through the questions above. I do not claim any official dealer status for SAY; this is simply my view as an independent broker and advisor.
